FLYING SPUR SPEED

Overview

The Flying Spur Speed combines the space and comfort of a luxury sedan with absolutely incredible performance. With sports detailing inside and out, plus a suite of clever technology to make it even easier to drive, it is a stunning fusion of craftsmanship and power.

Inside, it features the extreme luxury you expect from Bentley, but with a clear sporting influence. So there are more technical materials and less in the way of natural wood finishes, for example – unless you choose to have them.

With a 6.0 litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine, the Flying Spur Speed is the most exhilarating car in the Flying Spur range.

Design

The Flying Spur Speed makes its character clear from the moment you first lay eyes on it. A dark tint has been applied to the metal finish of the front grilles, as well as the internal components of the lights at the front and the rear. Speed badging identifies the car, while exclusive 22” wheels give it a powerful, planted appearance.

When you get into the car, you will notice more details and finishes unique to the Speed. The model has its own colour split that includes Dinamica elements – and because the Colour Specification is included as standard, you can choose from the entire range of colours for both your primary and secondary hide. To make the upholstery even more striking, you have the option of contrast stitching in a wide range of accent colours. From the Speed emblem embroidered on the seats to the racetrack-inspired graphics in the digital instrument panel, everything about this car suggests high performance.

Performance

The engine at the heart of the Flying Spur Speed is a fearsome 6.0 litre W12, giving you the power to accelerate from 0-60 mph in a breathtaking 3.7 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds). With a top speed of 207 mph (333 km/h), it is the fastest production four-door sedan in the world.

You can choose from four different modes as you drive, allowing you to select the driving character that best suits your mood. The Sport mode has been calibrated specifically for Bentley’s most performance-focused sedan. It adjusts the suspension, engine and transmission for a more responsive drive, and even makes the roar of the exhaust louder. Comfort mode offers a more refined ride, while Bentley mode gives you a balance between those two extremes. Custom mode allows you to adjust the individual settings, to create your own perfect driving mode.

The active All-Wheel Drive system gives you all the dynamic benefits of driving a predominantly rear-wheel drive car most of the time, but if the system detects any loss of traction it automatically diverts some of the engine’s power to the front axle, optimising your grip on the road.

The Flying Spur Speed comes with Bentley Dynamic Ride, a 48-volt electronic anti-roll system designed to keep the car level and stable when cornering at speed, without compromising the comfort of the ride when cruising at normal speeds. For easier handling, it also features all-wheel steering, which offers two benefits. When you are driving on the highway, it enables you to change lanes quickly and confidently, with body roll dramatically reduced.  When manoeuvring in tight spots in town, however, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction, reducing the car’s turning circle to make it incredibly agile for its size.

Technology

The car features Apple CarPlay* and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as wireless charging for compatible phones.

There are three hi-fi systems to choose from, starting with the Bentley Signature Audio system, which is installed as standard. From there, you can upgrade to the 16-channel Bang & Olufsen for Bentley system or, for the most discerning audiophiles, the 20-channel Naim for Bentley system.

For passengers in the back of the car, the Touchscreen Remote (TSR) provides access to the heating and ventilation settings, as well as seat adjustment, music controls and more. You can even use it to see journey data from the trip computer.

A comprehensive collection of driver assistance features is available, starting with the City Specification, installed as standard. It includes features such as a Top View Camera, Traffic Sign Recognition, pedestrian warnings, auto-dimming mirrors and hands-free boot opening.  The optional Touring Specification adds a Head-Up Display, a Night Vision Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist, among other systems.

The My Bentley smartphone app gives you a suite of features that let you check in on your car remotely. You can use it to remind yourself where you parked or to check the status of locks, windows and fuel levels. You can even set it to alert you if the alarm goes off, or if your car is moved without your consent.

Personalisation

You can choose from over 80 colours, including Bentley’s exhaustive range of exterior paints and premium finishes from Mulliner. Inside the car, you can choose from 15 primary hide colours and 11 secondary hides, plus the full range of veneers – which includes high-gloss wood, open-pore wood and technical finishes such as carbon fibre. Among the many optional features you can select are electrically deployed picnic tables, mood lighting and diamond knurling for all the metal switchgear. The Bentley Signature Audio system is installed as standard, however you can upgrade to either the Bang & Olufsen for Bentley system or the Naim for Bentley system.
